Ranking the five NRL signings that have impressed the most so far

New signings are always under pressure to perform for their new clubs, especially if there was a lot of attention surrounding the transfer. But, just which five NRL signings have impressed the most so far in 2021?

5. Jai Arrow

Jai Arrow made the off-season move to South Sydney from the Gold Coast and boy has he settled in well. Picking up where he left off in a superb end to the Titans’ season, the forward has settled in brilliantly with the Rabbitohs, playing all five of their games so far.

4. Remis Smith

Melbourne Storm picked up Reimis Smith from Canterbury almost under the cover of darkness heading into the new season. Just 23 years of age, Smith has been a part of every Storm game so far in 2021, looking every bit the part following the departure of former star winger Suliasi Vunivalu. One of the most exciting youngsters in the game, the centre has struck up a deadly partnership with new winger George Jennings too, with the duo scoring four tries between them.

3. Tyson Frizell

Tyson Frizell’s last two seasons at the Dragons were underwhelming to the say the least, but the New South Wales and Australia representative looks like he is getting back to his best under new Newcastle head coach Adam O’Brien – even if the Knights are languishing in the bottom half of the table. The second-rower has been cutting sides open like the Frizell of old and Newcastle fans will be hoping that continues for the duration of the season.

2. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui

Tino Fa’asuamaleaui was one of three major signings for the Gold Coast Titans prior to the 2021 season in a bid to project their forward pack to a new level. With three wins from a possible five already, the Titans have been growing more and more confident under Justin Holbrook and, with the likes of Fa’asuamaleaui in tow, they will definitely be hopeful they can make the eight at the end of the upcoming campaign.

1. David Fifita

Who else but this man to round off the rankings? Slowly but surely, David Fifita has been getting up to speed with his new team and he showed just how important he is going to be for the Titans in 2021 last weekend. The man mountain ran Newcastle ragged, scoring a hat-trick as the Gold Coast thrashed the Knights 42-16. If the Titans are to reach the play-offs then Fifita will certainly be the go-to man.
