The fixtures for Round One of Super League have been confirmed but how well does your team fare in that fixture? We’ve checked out the data.
Round One of Super League is a round full of optimism as fans congregate after the long off-season to see what their team’s hopes and prospects look like for the upcoming campaign.
For some teams, it brings the first win of what could be a successful season and for others, it marks the start of another eight months of pain.
Few opening round games summed that up better than the Super League season opener in 2024 when Hull KR put their rivals Hull FC to the sword and won 22-0 on the road. Subsequently, KR would make their first-ever Grand Final whilst the Black and Whites would win just three games all season.
That result bucked the trend though as Hull FC are actually the second-most successful team in Round One of Super League over the last ten years. We’ve crunched the numbers and worked out where every Super League team ranks over the last decade.
Where every Super League team ranks in Round One win rate since 2015
12th: Leigh Leopards – Zero wins and six absences
Leigh, be they Centurions or Leopards, have not won a Round One Super League game in the past ten years. In their defence, they did not play in six of those seasons but they’re still the only side without a win.
11th: Wakefield Trinity – Two wins, seven losses and one absence
Trinity won just two of their season openers across the past decade. They’ll travel to Yorkshire rival Leeds Rhinos to try and improve that record in 2025.
10th: Salford Red Devils – Three wins and seven losses
The Red Devils don’t have a great record in Round One of Super League with just three wins coming across the years. The most recent came in 2023 against Leigh. In 2025, they’ll face St Helens.
9th: Castleford Tigers – Three wins, five losses, one draw and one absence
Castleford Tigers have a real mixed bag of results and are one of just three clubs on this list with a draw. They also missed out during the season where Toronto withdrew meaning they’ve played just nine Round One fixtures despite featuring in all ten seasons.
T8th: Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons – Four wins and six losses
Both Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons boast four wins and six losses in Round One, although both won in 2024. This coming season, Leeds will host promoted Wakey whilst Catalans see Hull FC visit Perpignan.

6th: Huddersfield Giants – Four wins, five losses and one absence
Huddersfield’s ‘absence’ comes from the 2023 season when St Helens could not fill the Round One game at the time on account of the World Club Challenge. It was a game that the Giants would eventually lose but we’re not putting it on their record.
5th: Hull KR – Four wins, four losses, one draw and one absence
Much like Castleford, Hull KR has a mixed bag of results. The draw on their record did come against Cas who they will host again in 2025.
4th: Warrington Wolves – Five wins and five losses
Right down the middle of the road. Warrington Wolves are 50/50 in Round One over the past ten years. They lost in Perpignan last year despite having a man advantage for all of the second half but they’ll look to get back in the win column when they face Huddersfield this year.
3rd: Wigan Warriors – Seven wins, two losses and one draw
Wigan’s draw came all the way back in 2015 and since then they’ve won seven of nine including last season when they defeated Castleford Tigers 32-4.
2nd: Hull FC – Eight wins and two losses
John Cartwright might have to take Hull FC to the South of France in Round One but history is on the side of the Black and Whites who have an 80% win rate on opening day. Of course, last year they were nilled by their nearest and dearest but that was their first Round One loss in Super League since 2019.
1st: St Helens – Nine wins and one absence
Leigh were at the foot of the table with no wins but Paul Wellens’ side are atop it with no losses. Nine wins is an incredible record and facing Salford at home, they’ll be favourites to extend their impressive opening day run.
