The 2024 Super League season has been one characterised by discipline with the change in how high shots are policed seeing a whopping 16 charges in Round One as players and officials learned to adjust.
Round Two saw Hull FC star Nu Brown sent off for a purely accidental head contact with Ben Currie triggering the RFL to amend how the rules were implemented and since then only eight red cards have come in the ensuing twelve rounds.
There has been plenty of yellow cards shown as well though with one team already in double figures for the number of times they’ve seen a player sent to the sin bin. Incredibly one side hasn’t had a single man shown yellow but has seen two players sent off.
Who are the most ill-disciplined Super League sides though? Teams will be ranked by the number of cards that they have been shown with red cards being the tie-breaker for teams that are level.

12: London Broncos (Zero Red Cards and Two Yellow Cards)
They might be at the foot of the Super League table but London Broncos are one of just five sides that haven’t had a man sent off and they’ve only been pinged for sin bins twice.
11: Castleford Tigers (Two Red Cards and Zero Yellow Cards)

Castleford are the Super League team that boasts the impressive record of no sin bins but two red cards. Liam Horne was shown red in Round 11 for his tip tackle against St Helens whereas Liam Watts landed a four-game ban for making contact with the head in Round One.
10: St Helens (Two Red Cards and Two Yellow Cards)
Paul Wellens’ side have two of each with the controversial red card for Tommy Makinson in Round 11 against Castleford Tigers being the latest. Mark Percival also saw red earlier in the campaign.
9: Warrington Wolves (Zero Red Cards and Four Yellow Cards)
Sam Burgess’ side are another to have kept their head and avoided a red card but they have been shown four yellow cards with Lachlan Fitzgibbon the latest of those after being sin-binned in the South of France against Catalans Dragons.
8: Hull KR (Zero Red Cards and Five Yellow Cards)
Hull KR kicked the campaign off with a Matt Parcell yellow card as he and Ligi Sao got into it in Round One but the Robins are still yet to have a man sent off.
7: Huddersfield Giants (One Red Card and Four Yellow Cards)

You could argue that Huddersfield Giants should be lower on the list given that Elliot Wallis’ red card drew no further punishment, suggesting it was an incorrect call at the time. He saw red for ‘violent conduct’ against Leigh Leopards.
6: Leeds Rhinos (Zero Red Cards and Six Yellow Cards)
Rohan’s Rhinos are another side without a red card against their name this season but they have been shown the fourth most yellow cards in Super League.
5: Catalans Dragons (One Red Card and Five Yellow Cards)
Catalans were one of the three teams in Round One to be shown a red card with Micky McIlorum going on to serve a four-game ban for his shot on Jordy Crowther. They’ve also picked up plenty of yellows too.
4: Wigan Warriors (Two Red Cards and Five Yellow Cards)

Adam Keighran’s red card yesterday adds to Liam Byrne’s from the Good Friday derby earlier in the season. One of the flaws of Matt Peet’s side this season has been their ill-discipline which could now cost them with Keighran set to miss the Challenge Cup Final after a three-match ban.
3: Leigh Leopards (Zero Red Cards and Ten Yellow Cards)
Incredibly, Leigh have managed to avoid a single red card despite the fact that they’ve picked up a whopping ten yellow cards. Three of those came in the clash against Huddersfield Giants.
2: Salford Red Devils (One Red Card and Nine Yellow Cards)
Salford have fewer yellow cards than Leigh but picked up a red card with King Vuniyayawa sent off earlier in the campaign. The prop was arguably unlucky and actually didn’t receive any further punishment suggesting like Wallis, it shouldn’t have been a red card.

There are plenty of reasons why Hull FC are sat near the foot of Super League and discipline is one of those with the Black and Whites boasting the most red cards and third most yellows. Two of those reds and one of the yellows came in Round One against Hull KR.
