Rangi Chase and Jesse Sene-Lefao give farewell to Castleford star

If Grant Millington’s farewell game in the UK in a friendly against a team of Wakefield All Stars was emotional, then the touching tribute given to him by a cohort of South Sea Islanders after the game was enough to render anyone tearful.

Former Castleford Tigers stars Rangi Chase and Jesse Sene-Lefao were amongst them as well as current Tiger Tyla Hepi, with Millington visibly grateful for such an honour.

Millington, of course, is leaving the UK and Castleford after spending over a decade in West Yorkshire and becoming one of the Tigers’ faithfuls most impressive overseas players ever.

He retired at the end of the season just gone, but the fans’ favourite enamoured himself to the Tigers faithful, raising money for a sick child in the process of setting up his farewell game.

Millington’s Just Giving page states: “I’ve been wanting to give back to the Castleford community before I move home to Australia – I’ve been wondering how I might do this and finally decided I would shave my beard, which I’ve been growing for 12 months, at my All Stars game on Wednesday 20th October – my wife and I have been made aware of a local boy Rowan who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

“After 217 days Rowan is finally home but requires a special cot that can contain all his medical equipment and is adjustable to help control the fluid on his brain to aid his shunt.”
