Queensland boss attacks NRL for “very disruptive” eligibility decision

Maroons coach Paul Green has described Ronaldo Mulitalo’s late withdrawal before their second thrashing by the Blues as “very disruptive”.

Cronulla’s Mulitalo had sparked up a storm due to confusion over his eligibility to play for Queensland, with questions being asked about the Sharks winger had lived in the region before he became 13.

Green didn’t want to take the risk of playing Mulitalo in case of sanctions.

“It’s obviously a massive breakdown in the process and I don’t think that’s finished yet,” said Green.

“All the information that was available to us – he was eligible to play. When he signed his last two contracts, in that he signed his eligibility to say he was ‘yes’ for Queensland.

“We don’t register the contracts. We’re not a part of that process. We just get a list off a database who says they are eligible based on that.

“I thought we handled it well.”
