Jon Wilkin has demanded that Hull KR put in a ‘2025 performance’ against Warrington Wolves in order to send departing head coach Willie Peters off in style, with the pundit suggesting that his players can and will dig deep one more time for their beloved head coach.
Peters will leave Hull KR at the end of the season in order to take up the role as head coach of incoming NRL side the PNG Chiefs, meaning this play-off eliminator could be the Australian’s final game in charge of Rovers if they lose.
Of course, they’ll hope that he has three more games in charge with the third and final one being a win at Old Trafford, however, the club’s form in 2026, outside a handful of performances, has not suggested that they’ve got enough to do that.
Fatigued in this latter half of the season, Rovers rested players in two of the last three weeks and Jon Wilkin has now suggested that those in red and white will ‘pull it out one last time’ to send off Peters the right way.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “I think this is a fascinating game because if I played for Hull KR and you’d had such a busy fixture list and you were gassed and you were feeling tired but you loved Willie Peters, you’d pull it out one last time.
“I think emotionally, Willie has meant so much to that town and that team that if they’ve got anything about them, they can pull out a 2025 performance out the bag.”

Can Hull KR put in a ‘2025 performance’ to send Willie Peters off?
Wilkin would go on to admit that such a feat was unlikely based on the evidence that we have seen so far this year, including two Super League defeats to Warrington Wolves as he even admitted that he hopes to see such a performance for Willie Peters.
On the chances of seeing a ‘Hull KR 2025 performance’, he said: “I know it’s unlikely and I know that it’s more than likely Warrington can go and win this from a home ground perspective.
“I’m actually not bothered who wins but I want to see a Hull KR 2025 performance for Willie Peters more than anybody.”
Fellow pundit Sam Tomkins countered and suggested that Warrington may do the same for their outgoing captain George Williams, stating: “George Williams has been great for the club and he’s on the field doing it himself. Warrington have got to do it for him.”
Williams will leave after five years in primrose and blue and, like Peters, will head to the NRL, at the end of the year.

It’s all down to who performs well on the day. Leigh were way below par in their fixture, their tackling was poor and they made too many basic errors.
