Reports: Price to be named Warrington head coach

Warrington Wolves are set to announce Cronulla Sharks assistant Steve Price as their new head coach – according to reports Down Under.

Chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick has recently returned from Australia, where he met a number of potential candidates following the departure of Tony Smith.

Price was head coach at St George Illawarra for just over two years but was sacked early in 2014 after a number of embarrassing defeats.

He has since been assistant to Shane Flanagan at the Sharks and now looks to be tasked with reigniting Warrington after a disastrous season.

Fellow contender for the Wolves job Dean Pay was announced as Canterbury Bulldogs head coach yesterday, paving the way for Price to take over at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
