Price happy with Wire response

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price has said he has been pleased with how his side has responded since their opening round defeat against Castleford Tigers.

The Wire take on Hull KR on Saturday after winning two of their last three matches, drawing the other one, since losing that first round match.

Despite their good form, Price is keen to keep their feet on the ground and keep on growing.

He said: “There have been small steps forward. In the Swinton game, the Hull game and then what I thought was our best performance of the season against  a quality team in Catalans.

“They are tough away trips, so credit to the boys and the team. We understand we need to keep improving to get where we want to get to and that is the exciting bit for us.

“I thought there was some strong individual performances. Toby King and Jake Mamo were really strong in the centres, and Gareth Widdop’s start of the season has been one of the top three in the Super League in my opinion.

“Things are looking good. It’s important we do not get carried away with ourselves, keep improving and be ready for Saturday.”
