Price confirms Davis blow

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price has announced Matt Davis’ season is over after tearing his bicep.

Davis had to be taken off in the opening stages of the second half of Warrington’s Golden Point win over Salford Red Devils on Saturday.

He will now see a surgeon next week.

Price said: “It’s not good news for Matt Davis, which is a shame. He worked really hard to get back, and I am devastated for him.

“He’s torn his bicep at the weekend. He will be seeing the surgeon next week, which is shattering for him, and I feel for him because he has worked really hard.

“We will know more when we see the doc next week. But usually a torn bicep is a 10-14 week injury, so it’s not good news.”

Davis started at hooker on Saturday in the absence of Daryl Clark and Danny Walker, and Price confirmed neither would be available for Thursday’s match against Castleford Tigers.

Price was not willing to say at this stage who will play at hooker, but said he was confident whoever would come in would do a job.
