‘Pretty embarrassing for Super League’ – How social media reacted to last night’s Super League

Last night was a scintillating night of rugby league. Castleford put on an attacking clinic as they ploughed through Leigh, Champions St Helens had too much for Wakefield after a pointless first half before Hull KR created history in a narrow victory against Huddersfield.

It was one of those nights that made you glad to be a Super League fan.

But how did the world see it? We’re looking at how social media reacted to last night’s rugby.

Let’s start with the Tigers who were simply mesmeric as they ran rings round a hapless Leigh side. Surprisingly, both Liam Watts and Grant Millington made speedy breaks where they showed the pace of wingers and social media loved it.

Despite the joy those two efforts provided the Cas faithful, the Leigh fans weren’t happy about it at all.

On the other hand, despite being on the wrong end of the score line ultimately, Wakefield fans were really impressed with a first half that saw them keep the Champions scoreless.

After a nervy first half, Saints fans were simply relieved to pull ahead in the second stanza.

But the best action of course came in Hull KR’s clash with Huddersfield as the two produced a classic end to end battle. It also led to a piece of history as Ben Crooks scored Super League’s fastest try. Although not everyone was very impressed.

Yet the vast majority were wowed by the brilliant spectacle.

Unfortunately, the game was sullied by some controversial refereeing decisions and social media wasn’t happy especially when it came to Hull KR’s disallowed try when Lee Gaskell was said to have been taken out.
