Predicting the top five try scorers in Super League in 2023

The 2023 Super League season is nearly upon us.

Thus, now is the for predictions and speculation about what the new season will bring in 2023.

People have predicted the Man of Steel winner, Grand Final winners and the sides who will make the play-offs.

But the key to success is scoring tries. So, today we’re predicting the top five try scorers in Super League in 2023.

5. Ash Handley – Leeds Rhinos
The top try scorer in 2020, close to the accolade in 2019 as well as not being too far from the award in 2022, in a more settled Leeds team in 2022 outside an exciting new centre partner in the shape of Nene MacDonald, he could be well in the mix.

4. Jake Bibby – Huddersfield Giants
After making the move from Wigan Warriors in 2023 to join the Huddersfield Giants and their exciting recruitment drive for the new season under Ian Watson. In a Huddersfield team that enjoys more attacking possession than anyone else and now have Jake Connor and Tui Lolohea to create opportunities, Bibby could score tries for fun.

3. Ken Sio – Salford Red Devils
The 2021 top try scorer and in the mix last year, Salford are expected to kick on again in 2023 after keeping their key players in the side like Brodie Croft and Ryan Brierley. So, the opportunities won’t dry up for the winger.

2. Bevan French – Wigan Warriors
In 2023, Bevan French averaged 1.55 tries per game. He scored 31 tries in 20 games last year and his speed will ensure he continues to score tries for fun.

1. Tommy Makinson – St Helens
The St Helens winger was well in the mix for the top try scorer award in 2022 before he picked up an injury. In 2023, with Lewis Dodd back, Jack Welsby at fullback and Konrad Hurrell or Will Hopoate at centre, the Saints could be better than ever and could create plenty of opportunities for the winger.
