Predicting the 2023 Super League Dream Team

Now that 2023 is here, it truly is time to start looking ahead to the next chapter of Super League history.

So, with that in mind, we have predicted the 2023 Super League Dream Team.

Fullback: Jai Field
Many people’s pick for the Man of Steel in 2022, Jai Field looks set to be one of the star players of 2023. Jack Welsby, Tui Lolohea and others will push him for the spot but if Field scores tries for fun again next year he should seal this spot.

Wingers: Ken Sio and Bevan French
The same two wingers from last year’s Dream Team will again stand out in 2023. Tommy Makinson, Ash Handley and Jermain McGillvary will all push for these spots which could be some of the toughest to decide in 2023. However, is Ken Sio and Bevan French continue their form next year they will again earn these spots.

Centres: Harry Newman and Jake Wardle
On his day, Harry Newman is one of the best players in Super League and if he stays fit in 2023 not only could he be named in the Dream Team but he could claim the Man of Steel. Likewise, Jake Wardle’s quality has been overshadowed by injuries too. At a new club alongside attacking stars, Wardle should shine.

Halfbacks: Jake Connor and Lewis Dodd
Jake Connor is set to return to the halves in 2023 it seems with Ian Watson saying Lolohea is still his first choice fullback. Connor is one of the best and most exciting players in Super League and at Huddersfield will kick on. As will Lewis Dodd. The St Helens halfback is a brilliant attacking player and returning from injury he could be the best seven in Super League.

Props: Matty Lees and Mikolaj Oledzki
Two young props just coming into their own. The end of 2023 showed that these two are set to become the best props in Super League and 2023 could see Lees edge ahead of the brilliant Alex Walmsley in 2023.

Hooker: Edwin Ipape
The Championship Player of the Year in 2022, Edwin Ipape was brilliant in 2022 and shone at the Rugby League World Cup. Explosive and elusive, he will shine in Super League.

Second-Rowers: Joe Batchelor and Kallum Watkins
Joe Batchelor has developed into one of the best backrows in Super League and was vital to St Helens’ success in 2022 and that will be no different in 2023. Meanwhile, Kallum Watkins finished 2022 brilliantly and in his new position will continue to shine.

Loose-Forward: Morgan Knowles
The best 13 in Super League, he will have the likes of Cameron Smith chasing this spot, but if Knowles continues to do what he is doing he is the favourite for the role.
