Predicted Warrington Wolves v Hull FC line-up with Will Pryce call made

hull fc

Warrington Wolves host Hull FC in Round Seven of Super League with both Sam Burgess and John Cartwright facing some selection dilemmas.

Both sides had differing fates in last weekend’s Challenge Cup with Wire securing a 20-12 win over St Helens, that result coming a day after the Black and Whites lost 32-16 to their cross-city rivals.

Will Pryce made his debut for Hull FC that day with his arrival from Australia being a timely one as he slotted straight into the halves given Cade Cust’s unavailability.

Cust is expected to be back for today’s game though Cartwright did stress that his hooker/half-back still had some parts of the HIA protocols to go through, but should he return then it begs a question of where he fits in.

As for Warrington, Sam Burgess lost one of his key centres in Arron Lindop and may also have to make a call on Paul Vaughan who suffered a gruesome broken finger against St Helens.

Warrington Wolves predicted team

The return of Josh Thewlis and Toby King are major boosts for Sam Burgess, albeit Wire have lost Arron Lindop to a broken jaw. Stefan Ratchford has been named in the 21-man squad but Rodrick Tai could earn the start in the centres.

With King’s return, that would mean that Ben Currie can return to the forward pack having played in the centres since Las Vegas. The big question in the forward pack could be over Paul Vaughan with the prop forward suffering a broken finger which ruptured the skin in the Challenge Cup.

He did return to the field and could well feature tonight after being named in the 21-man squad in a forward pack that’s set to feature James Harrison, who has recently shone at loose forward – though that could change if Currie returns to the pack.

Predicted Warrington Wolves XIII: Matt Dufty, Josh Thewlis, Rodrick Tai, Toby King, Matty Ashton, George Williams, Marc Sneyd, Zane Musgrove, Danny Walker, Paul Vaughan, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Ben Currie, James Harrison

Interchanges: Sam Powell, Jordy Crowther, Joe Philbin, Adam Holroyd

Where Will Pryce will play is one of the big questions and it also revolves around if Cade Cust passes fit. With John Cartwright having declared ‘six or one’ to be Will Pryce’s best position, it’s likely he starts alongside Aidan Sezer with Cade Cust used as an option from the bench.

Cust could be deployed at hooker or in the halves but another major decision will be made in the second-row with Jordan Lane suffering a broken arm to join the likes of Jed Cartwright, Oliver Holmes and Liam Watts on the injury list.

Ed Chamberlain looks set to pass fit after a knee issue whilst Jack Ashworth could be the man to play alongside him, having also filled the role on Saturday.

Predicted Hull FC XIII: Jordan Rapana, Tom Briscoe, Zak Hardaker, Davy Litten, Lewis Martin, Will Pryce, Aidan Sezer, Herman Ese’ese, Amir Bourouh, Liam Knight, Jack Ashworth, Ed Chamberlain, John Asiata

Interchanges: Cade Cust, Yusuf Aydin, Sam Eseh, Hugo Salabio
