Predicted 2025 Super League table as new wooden spoon favourite emerges amid St Helens, Hull FC and Wigan Warriors calls

Super League

Wigan Warriors enter the new Super League season as the clear favourites to get their hands on the title once more. The Warriors won everything there was to win last season and, according to the bookmakers, they’re the side who lead the way when it comes to the 2025 League Leaders’ Shield and Grand Final.

Matt Peet’s side are 11/8 favourites in both markets, according to Super League sponsors Betfred, and that’s without making any new additions to their side for the new season. However, given the dominance they found in 2024, it’s not hard to see why the Cherry and Whites are considered to be the team to beat.

St Helens and Warrington Wolves were tied in Betfred’s odds list for a chunk of the off-season, but as the new season approaches, it’s St Helens who appear to have just edged their rivals for the tag of second favourites.

Paul Wellens’ side finished sixth last season and underwhelmed in a friendly loss to Salford Red Devils in pre-season, but they’re at 7/2 to win the league crown and 9/2 for the Grand Final. Warrington are a fraction further back in both markers with Sam Burgess’ side being at 4/1 for the Shield and 5/1 for the Grand Final.

Hull KR are just behind the north west pair at 5/1 for the regular season, while Leeds Rhinos are at 12/1 and Catalans Dragons, who have made plenty of changes in the off-season are 20/1 outsiders.

Interestingly, Salford are now at 50/1 for the League Leaders’ after seeing their odds slide due to their financial uncertainty in the off-season, while Castleford Tigers are comfortably bottom of the pile with Danny McGuire’s side at 100/1. The Tigers lost to Wakefield Trinity and Hull FC in pre-season before being knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Championship outfit Bradford Bulls last weekend.

As such, they’re the side considered to be favourites for the wooden spoon, with 5/4 odds available for them to finish bottom this season. If you fancy Castleford to be something of a surprise package, though, you can back them at 7/1 to make the top six.

On the eve of the new season, here’s a look at how the bookmakers see the 2025 campaign panning out. All odds from Betfred and correct at time of writing.
