Wigan Warriors are the early favourites to retain their Super League crown heading into next season. The Cherry and Whites won the 2024 Super League Grand Final two weeks ago as they beat Hull KR to seal a historic quadruple.
Matt Peet’s side were the best side Super League had to offer by some distance then this season and it seems the bookmakers are backing them to maintain that dominance next year. It’s still very early, of course, with the start of pre-season still a week or two away for the earliest of starters, but it’s Wigan who lead the odds list to win the Grand Final at Old Trafford next season.
At the time of writing Sky Bet have the club at the short price of 6/4 to win the Grand Final for the third successive season. St Helens and Warrington Wolves are deemed to be their closest rivals, though, with clubs available to be backed at 5/1.
Saints struggled for traction this season before eventually finishing the regular season in sixth and losing to Warrington in a play-off eliminator. Paul Wellens’ side have recruited well, though, and they’ll fancy their chances of bouncing back by knocking Wigan off their perch. Sam Burgess’ side managed to reach the semi-finals of the play-offs but saw their hopes of lifting a trophy this season dashed by Hull KR.
Rovers are fourth in the odds list with Willie Peters’ outfit at 6/1 after their Grand Final defeat, while Leeds Rhinos, who announced the signing of Maika Sivo on Saturday are at 10/1. The West Yorkshire side missed out on the play-offs this season, but the bookies expect them to make the cut next time around.
Catalans Dragons complete the top six at 12/1, while Leigh Leopards, who have made plenty of changes to their line-up for next season are at 20/1.
Interestingly, Hull FC, who won just three games all season in 2024, are ninth in the odds list at 40/1 to find Grand Final success and that’s ahead of Huddersfield Giants (50/1), Castleford Tigers (66/1) and Wakefield Trinity (66/1).

Is it April 1st or something?
Only two sides in SL have not undergone major rebuilds at the end of 2024 and that’s Wigan and Hull Kingston Rovers. Put that together with how they finished 2024 and they have to be the two favourites.
St Helens is a major rebuild with a still novice coach. Likewise Warrington who flattered to deceive at times but showed the frailties are still there with their late losses to Wigan and Rovers (twice).
But that is your third and fourth – Wire and Saints.
After that it’s a bit of a scrabble. Leeds we’re all over the place and have had quite a few in and out of the door so it’s when, or if, the new faces fit in. Leigh have probably got more new boys than old faces, and Catalan were in melt down before the season ended.

As for FC, Cas, Giants and Wakey, I’m sure they will pull off the odd shock, but nothing which could be sustained for a season.
