Powell’s Tigers suffer another injury as one player receives high praise

Castleford Tigers ran out 30-20 winners against Hull KR, but head coach Daryl Powell confirmed that yet another star is likely to be sidelined.

Eight Tigers were ruled out of Adam Milner’s testimonial game, with the likes of Suaia Matagi and Liam Watts sitting out. But one star made his way off the field in the victory and failed to return.

“Alex Foster has done a bicep injury, he’ll get checked out and we’ll see how long he will be out for,” Powell stated.

“Most of the injuries we’ve got at the moment, we’re not risking anybody. We’ve got bits and bats from pre season and last season too.

“But, a few boys who missed this week will be ready for round one.”

One player received great raps from Powell though and that was Jake Trueman. After suffering with a back injury for most of 2020, Powell was happy to see the young halfback excel.

“He’s had a great pre-season and you can tell with the way he performed, but he had a couple of things wrong last year with his back.

“He looks in really good shape and the first-half he was pretty accomplished. His running game was really dangerous and he’s working overall on his kicking game and the way he communicates with other people.

Overall, the Castleford boss was happy with the run out.

“It was a really good game for us, the way Hull KR play, they challenge you.

“The amount of six agains we had to deal with was troubling and the second-half we changed things around a bit especially in the middle and we conceded a few tries in there.

“I thought Jordan Turner was excellent as well. It was a really great team performance and great to get the win especially with it been Adz’ (Adam Milner) testmonial.

“It gives us a good platform for the next two weeks.”
