Powell identifies key Hull player and calls for squad to pull together

With the news that two Super League games will be postponed for round nine, Daryl Powell has called on his players to look after each other first and foremost.

“I think we’ve got to focus on ourselves and not get wrapped up in anyone else – we need to deal with what’s in front of us, otherwise it becomes too difficult,” Powell said.

“We need to be more vigilant, there’s a duty for everyone to look after ourselves, but everyone is becoming more relaxed about it for obvious reasons, and we need to try and make sure we are looking after each other.”

Powell will have his eye on one particular Hull man in this week’s fixture.

“Jake Connor is a very good player and he’s got all the tricks in the book so you’ve got to put him under as much pressure as possible which is difficult because he is a class player.

“You’ve got to be aware of his threat which is to maximise his skill set”.
