Police make allegations against Hull KR’s Brad Takairangi

Hull KR have released a statement concerning a police allegation against their star Brad Takairangi.

The statement reads:

Hull KR have been made aware by the player and his legal representative of allegations brought against him by Humberside police.

The matter is under review by the club and will be dealt with internally.

There will be no further comment at this stage from the club or player.

The allegation is said to have been a drink-driving offence.

Hull KR returned to pre-season back a month before Christmas with Takairangi expected to play a key role as Tony Smith’s men attempt to go one better in 2022.

The Robins defied expectations in 2021 to finish inside the play-offs and then make it all the way to the semi-finals.

A superb 19-0 victory away at Smith’s former side Warrington Wolves sent them into an away tie against the Catalans Dragons.

They eventually lost that fixture but gave a superb account of themselves as the likes of Mikey Lewis and Jordan Abdull starred.

Rovers could do without this off-field trouble, however, as they aim to defy expectations once more in 2022.
