Police join search as son of ex-Super League and NRL star James Maloney goes missing

Australian police have become involved after the son of former Super League and NRL star James Maloney has gone missing.

The son of the ex-Super League and NRL star Maloney was reported missing by the family with police in Australia now involved in trying to find 14-year-old Kade.

Maloney’s wife Jess took to social media to make a plea after the teenager went missing on the Central Coast having purchased a ticket at Gosford station.

New South Wales Police have now become involved and issued an appeal to locate the teen.

A statement from the police read: “Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a teenage boy missing from the Central Coast area,” a police statement said.

“Kade Maloney, aged 14, was last seen at Green Point about 10.00pm last night (Saturday 21 December 2024).

“When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

“Police and family hold concerns for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character.

“Kade is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall with a medium build, with short light brown hair and blue-coloured eyes.

“He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue North Queensland Cowboys football shorts and carrying a black bag.

“Inquiries by police indicate he may have travelled to the Penrith area by train.”

Per The Daily Telegraph, the Maloney family had been travelling from Townsville to Sydney after the ex-NRL man left his role as an assistant with the North Queensland Cowboys.

The 38-year-old spent two seasons in Super League with Catalans Dragons before retiring in France with Lezignan of the Elite One division.

Anyone with any information regarding Kade’s whereabouts is urged to contact the police immediately.
