Police drop assault charges against Tigers star

Wests Tigers star Josh Reynolds has been cleared of domestic violence allegations after New South Wales Police dropped all charges against him.

The Tigers utility was accused of assaulting his ex-partner in September, but police have now told Reynolds that the case will no longer be investigated.

A club statement said Reynolds was “relieved this matter is now behind him” and that he is “fully focused for this weekend’s trial match against the Warriors”.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe added: “This news comes as a great relief to Josh as well as our club.”

Reynolds returned to the playing field for the first time since the charges were made in last weekend’s trail loss to the Panthers.

Following today’s news, the 30-year-old is free to play in the 2020 NRL season and is likely to be named in the Tigers squad for their opening game against the Dragons.

In a statement released by his lawyers, Reynolds said: “The last nine weeks since I was charged has been one of the most tumultuous and difficult periods of my life.

“I was always an innocent man and I am happy the legal system has proved this. I am relieved in the fact that I can now get on with my life and move forward.”
