Philbin would play three games a week

12th March 2020, KCOM Stadium, Hull, England; Betfred Super League, Hull FC v Warrington Wolves : Joe Philbin (15) of Warrington Wolves during the game

Warrington Wolves forward Joe Philbin has said he would play three games a week if necessary when the rugby league season returns.

The season has currently been suspended during the coronavirus pandemic  and the UK is still on lockdown.

With debate raging on about how to restart the season, Philbin has said he would consider playing multiple games a week.

He did however, dismiss the notion that it was not a Player Welfare Issue.

He told Sky Sports: “I don’t really like the way some people say its not a player welfare issue. It is an issue, but at the same time, losing your job would be an issue.

“I can only speak for myself, but I would do it. (Play three games a week). The game needs it. It needs the income and needs the revenue.

“I’m sure we’ll be fine. Rugby league is a tough sport, and I’m sure we can find a way to keep the sport going.”
