Phil Clarke tips Super League star to win the Man of Steel

Going into Round Seven of Super League despite missing essentially the last three games, Jordan Abdull was still second in the Man of Steel rankings.

This was because in the three games where he played the full 80 he picked up the full three points as the Man of the Match.

After a brilliant display against Leeds Rhinos as he kicked Rohan Smith’s side to death notching two assists with the boot, he will surely make it 12 points and possibly again overtake Warrington Wolves’ George Williams in the Man of Steel rankings though Williams was Channel 4’s Man of the Match against Hull FC yesterday.

Either way they are becoming a run away top two in the Man of Steel chase.

Phil Clarke believes Abdull could pick up the Man of Steel saying on Sky Sports on Friday:

“I felt for some years that Jordan Abdull has the potential to win the Man of Steel award and at 27 he is maturing as a player.

“You have to be involved in the key moments and he certainly is.”

Abdull was a nominee for the Man of Steel award in 2021.

That year he also made his England debut. Abdull has been open about wanting to return to the England set up.

The way he is playing, Shaun Wane surely can’t ignore him.
