On Friday, Wigan Warriors kick started their season with a thumping win over a Wakefield side who have lost their opening two games of the season.
Speaking about the result on Sky Sports, Phil Clarke said that the two teams looked as if they were from different divisions such was the gulf in class between the Warriors and their opponents.
Clarke said as he praised the Warriors: “You see the speed and skill Wigan have. It looked like two teams that are playing in different competitions.
“Liam Marshall is having a lot of fun alongside Bevan French and Jai Field.
“The top teams want halfbacks who score tries and Wigan have that. They didn’t run enough last week but they have shown it this week.”
Meanwhile, Leeds Rhinos legend Danny McGuire pointed out the big mistake Wakefield made in the defeat.
He said: “If you stand of Wigan and give them space and time, they really hurt you because they have players with pace and skill.
“I really like the things that Harry Smith is doing at seven, at halfback. He is a really good player and Liam Marshall is probably one of the better finishers in the competition at the minute.
“They looked like they had a point to prove this weekend after what happened last weekend.
“Jake Wardle and Toby King, they look like a different side. They have some really exciting outside backs.”
