After Wigan Warriors were thumped by Catalans Dragons on Saturday, Phil Clarke raised a huge concern for the Warriors.
He brought up the fact Wigan were clearly out muscled by their opponents, not for the first time in 2023.
“The eye catching performances were from the men in the middle,” Clarke said.
“They just completely overpowered Wigan.
“Wigan are a strong side. But to get blown off the field like they did, that is a worry.
“Then it was about the speed and the skill that they were then able to score points with but it was in the middle that they got control.”
This will be a huge concern for Wigan and likely why they have been interested in Salford Red Devils’ Tyler Dupree.
More concerning is their recent run of form with Brian Carney saying:
“Wigan have lost three of the last four in the league which is a worrying stat but the defeats to Catalans and Leeds will have Matt Peet asking questions and a little troubled.”
The Warriors take on bitter rivals and Super League Champions St Helens next.
