Phil Clarke makes bold prediction about new Leeds Rhinos boss Rohan Smith

The new Leeds Rhinos head coach Rohan Smith will arrive in the UK this week, looking to take over a dishevelled yet hungry West Yorkshire side.

Leeds have been doing it tough in Super League in 2022, winning just two games as well as drawing another, but they finally added to their sole victory at the weekend against Toulouse Olympique.

Interim boss Jamie Jones-Buchanan has got his side fighting for each other and the badge with the team looking the hungriest they have done in 2022.

And, Jones-Buchanan cannot wait to get started under Smith after first coming across him three decades ago.

“I’m really looking forward to Rohan coming over,” Jones-Buchanan said on Sky Sports yesterday.

“The first time I met him was when I was 14 at Stanningley – he’s from a discipleship family of rugby league.

“The sport is part of his DNA and I benefitted from that in 2004 when Tony came to Leeds and he created his own legacy.

“But, Rohan is his own man and he will bring about his own techniques but I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Sky Sports pundit Phil Clarke was also optimistic about Smith’s chances at Leeds and believes he will be a success.

“Rohan Smith will win over half of the games he will be in charge of at Leeds,” Clarke said.
