Phil Clarke likens Super League star to Rob Burrow

Rob Burrow was a legend on the rugby league field but he has become an even bigger legend off the field.

The former scrum-half has been battling Motor Neurone Disease since his diagnosis in December 2019 and has done so courageously.

He returned to the rugby league field in 2020 for one last time in a testimonial for him and Jamie Jones-Buchanan in front of sell out crowd.

Burrow has inspired so many fundraisers since by Kevin Sinfield, other famous people but also the ‘ordinary people’ and not just Leeds fans.

The halfback has the support of the entire rugby league community but also far beyond that.

Burrow and his family have been heroes of the MND community with millions raised in his name.

Friday’s game was devoted to Burrow and the MND community with so much being done around the ground to raise money and awareness for MND.

Burrow’s daughter’s Macy and Maya led a spectacular dance with 777 children.

Burrow himself is in attendance and received a huge ovation from Leeds fans.

A fantastic night for Burrow and his family and after the game on Friday night, Phil Clarke said that one current Super League star is like Burrow and his teammate Danny McGuire.

That is Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis:

“If Hull KR want to make the top six and possibly the Grand Final, they need speed.

“We saw at Leeds during the golden generation when they had quick halfbacks to get over the line, Mikey Lewis has that sort of pace, like Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow, and you need that to get tries.
