Phil Clarke claims Super League side are no longer listening to their coach

Phil Clarke has claimed that one Super League squad isn’t listening to their coach.

That is unsurprisingly Huddersfield Giants who are struggling towards the bottom of the league.

The Giants’ woes got worse against Leeds Rhinos on Friday night when they lost 54-0.

“They’re clearly not listening to what they have been told,” Clarke said of the Giants squad following their defeat.

He went on to say they have no belief: “They are taking a backwards step. We know they are a team that can defend well.

“They have fallen part and lost belief.

“Ian Watson are a very manufactured team. He talks about processes, but they have tried to play with flow and it doesn’t come naturally to a manufactured side.

“The chemistry of the team is just not right.”

This came as Brian Carney stated: “Something has to change.”

The Giants are sitting 10th in the league and their play-off hopes are all but gone following the defeat on Friday.

The Giants are a long way off where they were in 2022 when they finished third and played in the Challenge Cup Final.
