Phil Clarke claims potential match defining decision was “wrong”

The second Hull derby has now concluded as Hull FC defeated Hull KR to pull level with Leeds Rhinos in the Super League table and close the gap on sixth place Salford Red Devils.

It wasn’t the greatest first half as it would prove error strewn however there was one notable moment as Mikey Lewis jinked his way into a collision, he wriggled through the defensive effort finding an offload to Jack Walker and the man they signed from Bradford Bulls touched down against the club he featured on loan for last year on his home debut for the Robins.

Trailing at halftime, Hull FC needed a big second half and a big moment came early in the first half as Cameron Scott’s offload set Adam Swift away. He wrong footed Walker and stormed his way to score.

Speaking of storming over to score, that is what Ligi Sao did to give Hull FC the lead.

It was then that a crucial moment took place as Matt Parcell was said to have knocked on behind the ruck but replays showed that it hit his boot.

Phil Clarke said of the incident:

“It looked like it hit his foot. It did hit his foot. He has got that wrong has Ben Thaler. But it is a difficult position for him to see from but it did touch his foot not his hand.”

It would prove match defining because from the subsequent possession Swift would claim a second try that sealed the victory for the Robins.
