In a huge game in the play-off race with Leeds Rhinos and Salford Red Devils circling the top six alongside Hull KR and Hull FC, it was vital for both Hull teams to claim a win in the Hull derby.
In the end the spoils went the way of Hull FC. The Black and Whites trailed 6-0 at the break after a superb try from Jack Walker backing up a great run from Mikey Lewis as he showed great power and ability to twist and turn his way through the tackles to get the ball away.
If that try was good then Adam Swift’s was great as the Hull FC winger levelled matters.
Then, after Shaun Kenny-Dowall had been sent off, Ligi Sao powered over to give Hull FC the lead.
There was a huge chance for the Robins to level matters when Tom Opacic kicked through for Matt Parcell however as he touched down he was penalised for double movement in what Phil Clarke said was an “unlucky” decision for the Robins on Sky Sports:
“That’s unlucky. Matt Parcell, well he had to do that because he doesn’t know whether or not he’s tackled, he has to reach out and try and ground the ball.”
Meanwhile, Mark Wilson added:
“Maybe if he had rolled over the line he would have had the try awarded but because he reaches out the try is disallowed.”
