Phil Clarke and Jon Wilkin raise big question about Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors were in superb form until their six game winning run game to a dramatic halt against Hull FC on Thursday night.

They fell 14-0 down swiftly as Jake Clifford shone.

However, Wigan dominated for the rest of the game but couldn’t find the points.

Their winning run had come without injured halfback Cade Cust and star player Jai Field.

This has seen Joe Shorrocks star in the halves and do brilliantly but Phil Clarke raised a big question for the Warriors:

“Joe Shorrocks has been playing really well but there is a big question for Wigan: can they play the rest of the season with Joe Shorrocks at stand-off?” Clarke said on Sky Sports.

“At some stage this season, it is a question Wigan will have to face.”

Jon Wilkin then echoed this:

“Effort is great, and he brings effort and he competes but can he bring the quality to unlock defences?

“That is the question. But he is brilliant.”

It will be interesting to see how Matt Peet addresses the halfback roles moving forward as Cust and Field return to the side.
