St Helens’ trio of new recruits have settled into life at the club seamlessly ahead of the 2025 Super League season. That’s according to Saints boss Paul Wellens who is delighted with what he’s seen from his players so far this pre-season.

The pressure is on at St Helens this season after falling well short of expectations and finishing sixth last time around in Super League. Changes have been made with key members of the playing and coaching staff moving on, while new additions have given the Merseyside outfit something of a fresh feel.

Tristan Sailor promises to provide Wellens with a impetus in the spine after his move from Brisbane Broncos, while Kyle Feldt and Lewis Murphy provide wing options, with the pair joining from North Queensland Cowboys and Sydney Roosters respectively. Feldt is an experienced head, having made over 200 appearances in the NRL, while Murphy will be known to Super League fans after making his name with Wakefield Trinity.

“There has been a real excitement around getting back to work with each other and the players seem to be enjoying that but at the same time, they are combining that natural hard work that’s needed at this time of year,” Wellens told the St Helens Star.

“So, I think we’re really getting the balance right – it’s really enjoyable environment be around but maintain that high standard of work ethic that we need.

“There is a fresh feeling and a number of new faces within the playing squad and on the staff as well which naturally adds freshness and excitement as well.

“The new faces Tristan, Lewis and Kyle have all settled in really well and seem to be integrating themselves well within the group from the very get go.”

St Helens get their Super League season underway with a clash against Salford Red Devils at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with the two sides meeting in a friendly on January 25th, in a clash that will double up as Morgan Knowles’ testimonial.
