Paul Sculthorpe gives verdict on St Helens’ Konrad Hurrell

Konrad Hurrell joined St Helens from Leeds Rhinos in the off-season to reunite with his Tonga national boss Kristian Woolf.

Since then, Hurrell has put his head down, shed the pounds and got himself fit and raring to go to play a big part for Saints in what will be their fourth title shot in a row.

And, if ever there was anyone qualified to talk about Saints signings, it is former hero Paul Sculthorpe.

Sculthorpe – and Leeds Rhinos legend Jamie Peacock – were guests on the Last Tackle podcast this week and Sculthorpe had some good words to say about Hurrell.

“He just looks like he is enjoying himself – he looks like he’s a good pre-season, he said it was the best pre-season he has had in along time,” Sculthorpe said.

“He works with Kristian for Tonga so they’ve got history and they’ve got a great relationship.

“He seems to be enjoying himself and he’s made himself a fans favourite.

“He’s a character but he’s backing that up with good performances.”

Saints are away at Hull KR tonight as they look to stretch their winning run to four games this season so far.
