Hull FC went down to a dismal 16-4 defeat to Hull KR on Good Friday.
There was little creative spark from the Black and Whites with a lot of the blame aimed at veteran halfback pairing Luke Gale and Josh Reynolds.
The duo were lacklustre with a poor kicking game and for Sky Sports pundits Paul Sculthorpe and Kevin Brown, Hull boss Brett Hodgson should not have changed a winning formula from weeks earlier.
For Sculthorpe, Joe Lovodua should have been in the halves.
“He’s got a great running game, he attacks the game and plays what is in front of him,” Sculthorpe said of the new Hull signing.
“Gale and Reynolds sit back a bit and they looked completely rudderless Hull FC.
“It was very one out and then they try and get round that with a miracle ball and you can’t do that.”
Meanwhile, former Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils halfback Kevin Brown wanted to see Ben McNamara in the halves after impressing during the short stint he was entrusted with.
“That’s why big teams buy big players for games like this,” Brown said live on Sky Sports.
“But, I think it was harsh to leave Ben McNamara out of the side particularly with how well he was playing and Reynolds has been off it.””
