Paul Rowley identifies “vulnerabilities” in Salford Red Devils play-off rivals

Salford Red Devils head coach Paul Rowley says there are “vulnerabilities and dangers” in all of his side’s play-off rivals, ahead of the final game of the regular season.

The Red Devils hammered Hull FC 58-4 this weekend, in yet another huge score for his side, just weeks after defeating Huddersfield Ginats 60-10.

Currently, they sit fourth in the table, and have secured a play-off spot, as they are four points ahead of Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons, who sit in seventh and eighth.

They will now look to secure the best-possible seeding for the play-offs, but face Wigan Warriors next week in a game that could determine the winners of the League Leaders’ Shield.

Following the huge victory, Rowley said:  “It’s fulfilling, that’s for sure, we’ve worked hard and obviously to be sat knowing that we’re in the play-offs and into the main event, it’s very pleasing, very rewarding, so yeah, the lads have done great.

“I think whoever the six are, everybody’s earned the right to play and there are vulnerabilities and dangers with every one of those six and we put ourselves within that category as well.

“We’re there to have a crack at it and we won’t die wondering, that’s for sure.”

The Red Devils have shown they’re capable of beating top sides, with wins over Warrington Wolves and Hull KR under their belts in the current campaign.

He also praised his side’s menatality against the Black and Whites, saying: “It was very professional and we like to have a tough mentality about how we went about our business. Hull have got good individuals but when you’ve had a squad of 54, 55 players then it’s very hard to be connected throughout the season.

“So we were aware of that. We came here with massive respect for them. But we wanted to play tough and we knew what we were about.”
