Why Ian Blease was so keen to bring back Paul Rowley and Kurt Haggerty to Salford Red Devils

After a successful first season in charge of Salford Red Devils Paul Rowley, alongside Assistant Coach Kurt Haggerty have both signed deals to keep them at the club till 2025.

Rowley was nominated for Super League Coach of the Year in 2022 and the attractive style of rugby he introduced almost produced a second Grand Final in four years.

They enjoyed a successful second half of the season as they steamrolled their way into the Play-offs, with victories over champions St Helens and a big away win against Catalans Dragons

After such a successful first year in charge, the decision to bring Rowley and Haggerty was easy for Director of Rugby Ian Blease.

“I am really pleased to get both Paul & Kurt to commit long-term at the Red Devils,” Blease stated. “After a good back half of last season, playing a magnificent brand of rugby, it’s pleasing that we are now able to build long term with these guys in charge.

“The amount of knowledgeable people coming up to me saying how impressed they were with the on-pitch displays is testament to all their hard work and effort, along with the back-room staff and the whole of the playing group.

“I am really looking forward to seeing what they can both conjure up on the pitch for the 2023 season and beyond.”

It seems the pair have full backing at the Red Devils as they look to build on their strong finish to last season and hopefully put together a more complete season which could see them compete for silverware.
