This morning Salford Red Devils announced the arrival of Ellis Longstaff from Warrington Wolves on a season long loan.
Longstaff had a break out season in 2021 but spent the latter half of the 2022 season starring at Hull FC on loan.
Now the England Knights international is headed to the AJ Bell Stadium.
It’s a bit of a surprise move with the Red Devils already having Kallum Watkins, Shane Wright and new signings Sam Stone and Ben Hellewell in the squad for next year.
However, Paul Rowley has explained why Longstaff is the “perfect fit” for the Red Devils on the club’s website: “Ellis is a fantastic addition to our team. He’s a player with lots of energy and ambition.
“His new team mates and the staff are looking forward to him joining our group, and as a current England Knight, he is clearly a talented and hard working player who is driven to succeed – which makes him a perfect fit for our club.”
Meanwhile, Longstaff himself is excited about what he can bring to the Red Devils: “I’m over the moon to sign at Salford for the year on loan.
“I’m really looking forward to getting in and meeting all the boys and staff and can’t wait to rip in. I also can’t wait to get out there in front of the fans and show what I can bring to the side.”
