Paul McShane makes big claim about what Castleford Tigers can achieve in 2023

Castleford Tigers captain Paul McShane

Former Hull FC boss Lee Radford has his feet well and truly under the table at Castleford Tigers now and headed into his second season he has put his own stamp on the squad but still at the heart of it a man who was central to the Daryl Powell era at the Jungle.

That is of course star hooker and former Man of Steel Paul McShane who seems very confident in the Radford era at the Jungle.

He has made the claim that he believes the Tigers can push for a spot in the top four in 2023.

“As a team, I think we need to be in the play-off mix and I think we can back ourselves to push for a top four spot – I don’t think many will but us as a group we’re pretty good when our backs are against the wall and people don’t back us. So, I think we can aim for that, and I think we’ve strengthened our squad this year which is good,” he said to Castleford Tigers TV.

He has also spoken about the respect generating in the pre-season: “It’s [pre-season] where you can earn the respect of your teammates. It’s not an easy time of year and you don’t really enjoy it but it’s where you get the respect for each other.”

This is important with the new spine with Gareth Widdop joining from Warrington Wolves and Jacob Miller in from Wakefield Trinity.
