Paul Gallen to play before Grand Final

Australia star and former New South Wales captain Paul Gallen will play in the Physical Disability Rugby League curtain raiser to this year’s Super League Grand Final.

The game will see Wakefield Trinity face Castleford Tigers, with the 38-year-old lining up for Trinity.

The Tigers team will also include a legend of the game, in the shape of former Castleford enforcer Dean Sampson, who played over 400 professional games in a career that spanned three decades.

The PDRL opener will be the first game of its kind ahead of a Super League Grand Final, at Old Trafford on October 12 (KO 4:55pm).

It follows a hugely successful match at Dacia Magic Weekend between Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos.

Gallen will be in the UK for his final game of rugby league the following Wednesday, which will see the Paul Gallen Allstars face Wakefield Trinity Allstars at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.
