Super League is home to some huge stars and big characters people like former Leeds Rhinos star and current St Helens centre Konrad Hurrell, his teammate Jack Welsby, Bevan French and Jai Field at Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves star George Williams and the likes of Jake Connor.
Often stars and characters go hand in hand. They are big personalities but have the ability to back it up on the field.
One of these seems to be developing at Hull KR in the shape of Mikey Lewis.
He has the potential to be one of the best stand-offs in the sport and is almost guaranteed to become an England international.
He is electric to watch and is a great character to see strut his stuff however this has some drawbacks as we saw with his yellow card against Leigh Leopards lately.
Thus, former Hull FC and Hull KR star Paul Cooke has accused him of lunacy.
“It’s lunacy. I think I said at the time that I wasn’t sure if it was a yellow card and I asked the question, do we really want to award a yellow card for that,” Cooke said of the incident at Leigh
“But when you see the wide angle, it’s just stupid and he needs to get it out of his game.
“We saw it at the Magic Weekend when he threw Tyler Dupree’s boot away, it’s just not needed.”
Meanwhile, Leeds Rhinos legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan suggested that the halfback is over “over aroused” and reminded people he is still a young and developing player:
“He’s just over aroused. I wouldn’t want to get that entirely out of him, I think we forget that he is only 22.”
Lewis has to now fight for his spot now Brad Schneider has been drafted in for the remainder of the season.
