Parramatta Eels star linked with move to Super League

One Parramatta Eels star could be heading to Super League with his contract expiring at the end of the 2022 NRL season.

Ryan Matterson has seemingly turned his career around with the Eels, impressing thoroughly in 2020 after a superb last season in Wests Tigers colours, though his 2021 season didn’t live up to those expectations he had already set for himself.

However, it appears as though Parramatta are willing to let the 27-year-old go due to salary cap constraints, despite the club enduring a great deal of upheaval with regards to player movement, zerotackle has reported.

Matterson is still only 27 yet has over 100 NRL appearances to his name with the Sydney Roosters, Tigers and Eels after bursting onto the scene with the Roosters back in 2016.

The second-rower played 60 games for Sydney over a three-year period before moving to Wests ahead of the 2019 season.

There, he made 24 appearances in one season, earning a lucrative deal with Parramatta for 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Though zerotackle labelled the Super League as a place Matterson could end up, there is still a great deal of interest from within the NRL for his signature – he could even end up at former side Wests.

What an awful headline with no basis in fact. Anything is possible But Matterson will be staying in the NRL
