Super League clubs are doing their utmost to bring in world-class players in order to prepare the best they possibly can for the 2023 season.

With a whole host of signings confirmed and many still to be announced such as the transfer of Mike Cooper from Warrington to Wigan, the wheels are turning over potential moves.

And, a lot of Super League clubs have been eyeing up stars from abroad.

According to The Mole at the Wide World of Sports last night, a number of Super League clubs are thought to be chasing Parramatta Eels centre Tom Opacic, with Hull KR thought to be leading the way.

Opacic began his career with the Brisbane Broncos in 2016 but two shoulder reconstructions saw his game time cut miserably before a move to the North Queensland Cowboys in 2019 was thought to help refresh his career.

The 27-year-old played in the club’s successful NRL Nines squad in 2020, but has found his game time limited this season under Brad Arthur.

Opacic scored a try in the New South Wales Cup last weekend and has been included in the 22-man squad to meet the Roosters on Saturday night, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will be included in a starting line-up that was cut apart by the Canterbury Bulldogs in a shock defeat last weekend.

The potential move to Super League has been fuelled by an Instagram post on the NRLonNine Instagram profile linking Opacic with a move.

Former Cowboys teammate Kyle Feldt commented on the post, saying: “Make sure ya pack ya winter warmers will be a bit chilly over there,” to which Opacic replied with an ice cold emoji.
