Lindsey Burrow has spoken publicly for the first time since the passing of her husband Rob after taking part in a MND fundraising trek.
Rob Burrow passed away over a fortnight ago after succumbing to his four-and-a-half-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease, a journey through which his wife Lindsey served as his carer.
Lindsey Burrow balanced caring for Rob whilst maintaining her own work as a physiotherapist and raising the couple’s three children, winning the hearts, minds and respect of all those who learned her story.
Now, in another inspiring step, she has completed an ascent of the highest of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks in support of a fellow MND patient’s fundraising campaign, just over two weeks after the passing of Rob.
Leeds Rhinos are set to honour Rob Burrow at their upcoming home game on Friday for which they’re expected to record a huge crowd and it’s expected that Lindsey Burrow and family will be in attendance for that too. However, she addressed the public yesterday upon completing her latest fundraising challenge.

After completing her trek supporting MND patient Ian Flatt, a man who was very involved with Rob during his own battle, Lindsey Burrow spoke to BBC Look North about how she was fairing in the fortnight since Rob’s death.
She said: “I’m good. The kids are keeping me busy and obviously, they are my priority now, to be able to look after the children and make sure that they’re looked after and brought up just exactly as Rob wants them to be.
“I think doing things like this hopefully will make them proud and continue to make Rob proud.
“It’s really important to me to be here to support Ian and the MND community. Rob knew I was going to do the walk and I never like letting people down, so just to be here today to support Ian and to see the turnout is just fantastic.
“I think it’s just about making sure his legacy lives on and just the work that Rob’s done will continue to be done for the MND community and we will continue to hopefully give people hope.”
On the public outpouring of support for herself and her family in the aftermath of Rob’s passing, she selflessly made the answer about Rob in a way that signified the love that the pair shared.
She explained: “I’ve been overwhelmed by people’s support since the announcement of Rob’s passing, and that’s been a real comfort. So thank you to everyone, whether it’s been messages or cards.
“I’m sorry if I’ve not got around to replying to them all, but just genuinely overwhelmed, but just genuinely overwhelmed, and I think that’s just a testament to Rob and what a special person he was.”
