Out-of-contract Super League star wants to stay at current club

Ben Crooks has been at Hull KR since 2018, but he has no plans to leave now he told the Hull Daily Mail.

Despite not having played since June 18, Crooks is positive that he can earn a new contract.

“I’ve got to go out there and do my part on the field and contracts follow,” Crooks said.

“I probably didn’t help myself with me playing below my standards at the start of the year. If I played from the start like I did against Wigan, I probably would have been in a better position.

“But unfortunately it hasn’t worked out that way and I’ve just got to get myself on the field and perform. I’m sure something will happen off the back of that.”

Crooks initially joined KR on loan in 2018, though he joined permanently at the end of that season, and the centre/winger wants to stay.

“I love the club. I love the fans. I love the staff. I’m loving my rugby at the minute.

“Ideally it’d be great to stay. I want to hang around for a while simply because of the way the club is going. I want to be a part of that future that we’re building.

“If the powers that be choose that they want to go in a different direction, I can’t sulk. I’ll look at my opportunities and will do what’s best for me and my family.”
