Ottawa sign Irish international

Ottawa Aces have confirmed the signing of Irish international hooker Dec O’Donnell from Workington Town ahead of the 2021 season.

He is the Aces 10th signing. He follows Louis Jouffret, Matty Fozard, Tom Gilmore, Jay Chaeplhow, Ted Chapelhow, Pat Moran, Sam Wilde, Gavin Marguerite and Ellis Robson in signing for the club.

O’Donnell came through the academy at Wigan Warriors before signing for Leigh Centurions in 2019. He then signed for Town a year later after a loan spell.

He told the club website: “I am very honoured and proud to have been given the opportunity with Ottawa Aces for 2021.

“I can’t wait to get stuck in with all the lads and staff. Hopefully we can make history with the club. I look forward to meeting everyone in Ottawa and hopefully growing the game out there too.”

Head Coach Laurent Frayssinous added: “He takes a lot of pride in his defence, and also has fantastic skills.  His versatility will be a key strength to the team. He is a tough warrior and his enthusiasm will drive standards within the group. I am delighted to have him in the team, as he is a winner.”
