Ottawa make ex-St Helens centre latest signing

Ottawa have signed former St Helens and Workington centre Calvin Wellington for their inaugural season in 2021.

The 24-year-old Welshman made one appearance for Saints in 2016 and also featured for Sheffield on dual-registration.

He switched codes in 2017 to join the Dragons RU club in his home country, before returning to the 13-aside game last year with Workington Town.

He becomes the Aces’ 15th squad member ahead of their entry into League 1 next year.

Wellington said: “(I am) privileged to get signed to the Ottawa Aces and embed a strong culture of Rugby League in Ottawa.”

Ottawa head coach Laurent Frayssinous added: “(I am) delighted with Calvin’s signature for our team.

“(He) comes from a good system and has all the abilities to perform at the highest level. He’s strong, fast, skillful and he will add a lot to our squad.”
