Ottawa announce latest signing

Ottawa Aces have confirmed the signing of forward Sam Wilde ahead of the 2021 season.

The 24-year-old was announced alongside three others as departing Widnes Vikings at the end of the season. He will join teammates Jay and Ted Chapelhow at the club.

Wilde will also link up with former teammate Tom Gilmore.

Reacting to the news, he said: “I am extremely happy to be signing for the Ottawa Aces, and to to be apart of the club from day one.

“It is a very exciting opportunity to be a part of something new, and to help build the club and the game of rugby league in a new city.”

Head Coach Laurent Frayssinous added: “It is an incredible coup to have Sam Wilde on board with us next season. I have followed Sam for a long time, and he is performing well year in and year out.

“He is a typical modern edge back row who can break the line, is skillful, carries the ball strong when needed, and first and foremost is solid defensively. I am so excited to work with him.”
