Though the 2023 Super League season has yet to begin, preparations for beyond that will have already begun especially as most sides have already done all their business for the 2023 barring the likes of Catalans Dragons, Leigh Leopards and potentially Salford Red Devils.
As in the NRL, considerations will be made to how squads for the 2024 season will look especially after they set the precedent down under of making signings well in advance because of the 1st November rule.
All sides have players off contract at the end of 2023 all of whom could feasible move away in 2024 though in general their current clubs have first dibs.
That doesn’t stop teams from trying to sign them however as we always see plenty of movement confirmed well in advance of a new season.
But which off contract player should Castleford Tigers be targeting?
The Tigers have lost one of their star players in the shape of Derrell Olpherts. Though this doesn’t leave a massive gap on the wing, it leaves them with a little less depth in the position.
Thus, it could be wise to try and sign Lewis Murphy from rivals Wakefield Trinity.
If they pulled this off, the Tigers could have two of the most exciting young wingers in Murphy and Jason Qareqare.
