‘One of the worst’ tackles to have been seen this year in crunch clash

Canberra Raiders star Corey Harawira-Naera looks to be facing a long time on the sidelines for a horrific high tackle on Melbourne’s halfback Jahrome Hughes.

With Harawira-Naera shooting out of the line in an attempt to get one over on Hughes, his shoulder made contact with the latter’s head with a little scuffle breaking out as the two lay prone on the floor.

Hughes had to be helped from the field by trainers, with Harawira-Naera being given a red card by referee Gerard Sutton.

The Storm ran out eventual 26-16 winners, but the club faces a nervous wait to see if Hughes will be fit for the business end of the season.

“That’s one of the worst we’ve seen,” Cooper Cronk said to Fox League.

“I know he’s trying to change momentum for his team, but he has clearly got that wrong. He is going to spend a long, long time on the sidelines I’m guessing.”
