Toronto Wolfpack have confirmed the signing of Canadian international Quinn Ngawati, while utility back Gary Wheeler has left the club by mutual consent.
Ngawati, 20, made history in 2017 when he became the first Canadian player to appear for the club, making his debut against Gloucestershire All Golds in July of that year.
He made one further appearance for the Wolfpack, against Featherstone in 2018, as well as playing nine games on loan at London Skolars.
The young back rower or centre left the club at the end of the 2018 season but will now return to bolster Brian McDermott’s depth and is initially set to turn out for Rochdale Hornets on dual-registration.
“Everyone at the Club talks positively about Quinn and the impact he had on the early days of the Wolfpack,” said McDermott. “He has done all the right things in the intervening years and we are delighted to welcome him back into the fold.”
Toronto have also confirmed that Gary Wheeler has left the club by mutual consent. The 30-year-old has been with the Wolfpack since their inaugural season in 2017, making 29 appearances.
