Sad news emerged last night from Oldham RLFC with the club confirming that owner and chairman Chris Hamilton had been taken ill.
A key location in rugby league folk law with the likes of Kevin Sinfield from the Lancashire town, the club have been dealt a saddening blow with Hamilton taken to hospital after falling ill on Sunday missing the club’s 34-26 win at Keighley.
He is now receiving treatment at Oldham Hospital with the entire club’s thoughts with him at this time.

On this Head Coach Stuart Littler has said: “It goes without saying that all members of the squad, the coaching staff and the medical and support staff wish Chris a speedy recovery and a return to his duties as soon as he feels well again.
“I’m keeping in touch with him and the lads have been messaging him with their good wishes. All our thoughts are with him at this difficult time.”
Oldham begin their season two weeks tomorrow against Keighley and will be hoping for a similar result but will be much more hopeful that Hamilton will be well enough to enjoy the game.
